# Managing uniform categories

> Create and manage the employee categories that entitlement rules attach to.

Uniform categories group employees who share the same entitlement rules. "Store Management" employees, for example, might receive a different set of uniforms than "Store Casuals". See [Categories and products](/uniform-management/categories-products) for how categories fit into entitlements.

  Navigate to **Products & Catalogue** from the sidebar under **Catalogue**, then select the **Uniform Categories** tab.

## Viewing categories

| Column          | Description                                   |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| **Name**        | Category display name                         |
| **Description** | Category description                          |
| **Rule Sets**   | Entitlement rule sets linked to this category |
| **Employees**   | Employees assigned to this category           |

## Creating a category

1. Click **Create** on the Uniform Categories tab.
2. Enter a **Name** (for example "Store Management") and an optional **Description**.
3. Click **Save**.

## Editing a category

1. Find the category in the table.
2. Click **Edit**.
3. Update the name or description and click **Save**.

  Each employee belongs to exactly one uniform category. Changing an employee's category changes which entitlement rules apply to them.

## Bulk importing categories

Categories can be bulk imported from the [Data Import Hub](/administrator/data-import-hub): select the **Uniform Categories** card, upload the CSV, review the preview, and import.

## Deactivating

Select the category and click **Deactivate** in the toolbar. Deactivated categories are hidden from active views.
